Bruschi return closer?

Friday, October 28th, 2005

All the buzz is that Tedy will be playing Sunday in some capacity. The most concrete news is in Jerome Solomon’s notebook column in the Globe today, where he quotes an anonymous source on the team saying that the equipment manager has order new number 54 jerseys for this Sunday’s game.

We’ll know something by Saturday afternoon, since the team has a 16:00 deadline tomorrow if they want Bruschi active for the game.

Poole emptied

Friday, October 28th, 2005

The Pats placed Ty Poole on IR yesterday, as the massacre of the secondary continues.

They’ve also added Wilson (flu), Warren (hip), and Zereoue (thigh) to the injury list as questionable.

One positive thing about the Poole situation is that Bruschi can be activated without anyone having to be cut.

It just never ends…

Friday, October 21st, 2005

Solomon’s notebook in the Globe today says that Poole reinjured his foot/ankle and will be out for another month.

On the slightly brighter side, Seymour said he’s targeting the Bills game as his return.

I’m wondering how badly Troy Brown is injured. He (and Dillon — uh-oh) have yet to be seen at the portion of practices open to the media and the Pats re-signed Davis the other day. Given all the problems on defense, it seems odd to me to sign another WR if they were expecting Troy back soon.

Injuries and roster moves

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

The Herald reports that Seymour has a sprained MCL and will be out 4-6 weeks from the date of the injury (the Chargers game). 30 October is the 4-week mark. Let’s hope he can go then, or if not then, than 7 November vs. Indy.

And today the Pats put Guss Scott on IR, release Wesley Mallard, and re-signed Hank Poteat and André Davis.

Seymour, Troy Brown are out

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Aiiieeeee!

Seymour, Troy Brown, Guss Scott, Tyrone Poole, and Marquise Hill have all been downgraded to out.

With Light and Faulk also out, that sets the required seven inactives for the game (and Cassell as the 3rd QB makes the eighth).

Gonna hurt to have Big Sey out versus a strong running team.

Yeesh.

Thank god we have a bye next week.

It’s official — Tedy’s going to try

Jackie McMullan (she and Ryan are probably the Globe‘s best in-print writers these days) has the story.

Bruschi coming back?

Friday, October 14th, 2005

Steve Burton at WBZ-TV has this story about it looking like Tedy will be returning to real practices.

I have mixed feelings. Given the condition of the Pats, I’d love to see Tedy come back this year. And it’s clear that it’s something he really wants to do. On the other hand, as a past Celtics fan, the spectre of Reggie Lewis drifts over the whole thing. I would hate to see Tedy rush back and suffer adverse effects (or worse!). On the gripping hand, unlike Lewis, it doesn’t look like Bruschi is going doctor shopping for someone to tell him what he wants to hear. It appears he’s sticking with his usual team.

Here’s hoping whichever way things go they are all for the best!

A little more injury detail

Friday, September 30th, 2005

According to the Globe this morning, Light has a broken fibula (has already been operated) on and Faulk has “a broken bone in his foot”. Let’s hope it’s not a lingering Lisfranc injury like Ty Law had last year.

I know I’ve said I’d like to see a repeat of last year…

…but I didn’t mean it this way:

  • Linebacker Tully Banta-Cain (knee) — questionable
  • Receiver Andre’ Davis (foot) — questionable
  • Offensive tackle Brandon Gorin (thigh) — questionable
  • Defensive end Jarvis Green (shoulder) — questionable
  • Receiver Bethel Johnson (thigh) — questionable
  • Cornerback Tyrone Poole (ankle) — questionable
  • Safety James Sanders (ankle) — questionable
  • Cornerback Chad Scott (shoulder) — questionable
  • Defensive lineman Richard Seymour (thigh) — questionable
  • Cornerback Duane Starks (thigh) — questionable
  • Quarterback Tom Brady (right shoulder) — probable

Geez — Seymour and Green? Poole and Scott? Ye gods!
