Opponents through 2009
With the re-alignment after the NFL expanded to 32 teams, the opponents of fourteen of the sixteen regular season games are entirely set by formula. Below is the list, omitting divisional games. An abbreviation like “AFCN” means “some AFC North team, determined by the previous year’s finishes”. Home games are before the “|”, away games are after it.
- 2006: HOU, IND, CHI, DET, AFCW | JAX, TEN, GB, MIN, AFCN
- 2007: CLE, PIT, PHI, WAS, AFCW | BAL, CIN, DAL, NYG, AFCS
- 2008: DEN, KC, ARI, STL, AFCN | OAK, SD, SF, SEA, AFCS
- 2009: JAX, TEN, ATL, CAR, AFCN | HOU, IND, NO, TB, AFCW
